OK, so my name is Allison and I am a PhD student studying sociology and athropology in relation to sport. Specifically my research is on nationalism and globalization in the Olympics.

I love sports, of most any kind, so this is kind of a way to have a more informal/less academic look into what I follow and research. While in my blog I really only cover the Olympics and women’s soccer I regularly follow baseball, football, basketball, and hockey (it’s been increasingly difficult since moving out of the US as I can’t watch games any more).

Teams I support:
Soccer -
US Women’s National Team (USWNT)
Chicago Red Stars (CRS) (1st choice WPS)
Boston Breakers (2nd choice WPS)

Football -
New England Patriots

Baseball -
Boston Red Sox
Chicago Cubs (secondary)

Basketball -
Boston Celtics

Hockey -
Boston Bruins

  • If I'm looking at this right I've got GB v BRA at Wembly on the 31st. Awesome. Need a bracket to start guessing at my semi-final and final! 1 month ago
  • #USWNT doesn't get a bad draw. GB should make it out. #London2012 1 month ago
  • A sign of epic fail: Multiple Red Sox TTs, not one for Humber. Yay mediocrity! 1 month ago
  • Fenway Park opened 100 years ago today. Such a great place. #RedSox 1 month ago
